This specimen was lot 22505 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $376. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 1/2 Sovereign, 1896. NGC MS-64. Veiled bust. Minimal bag marks on highly lustrous metal. Medium red orange toning which adds to the overall appeal." This type was struck 1893-1901 in considerable numbers. This "old bust" is the most familiar and most common of Victoria's half sovereigns.

Recorded mintage: 2,947,000.
