Great Britain 1873 sovereign Fr-387i
This specimen was lot 50154 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $632. The catalog description noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Sovereign, 1873. PCGS MS-61. Die number 13. Ex: Douro Cargo." This bust was used on the sovereign, or one pound coin, 1838-64 with a slightly modified type (KM 736.2) extending until 1874. This date is common. All issues of this date with the shield reverse bear die numbers.
Recorded mintage: 2,368,000 including the St. George reverse.
