This specimen was lot 3840 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $881.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Farthing, 1775. George III (1760-1820). PCGS MS-65 RB Secure Holder. Bright orange and very appealing. The finest certified example." This type was issued 1771-75. It is not rare but it did little to alleviate the small change shortage of the late eighteenth century. The next farthing issue is dated 1799.
