Great Britain 1710 2 pence
This specimen was part of lot 33310 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), which sold for $940. The catalog description noted, "Anne Four Coin Maundy Set 1710 XF/AU. This is a well matched set exhibiting minimal toning and maintaining strong original luster. Seldom offered in any grade, most illustrious this choice." Silver tuppence of Anne were struck for circulation and Maundy sets 1703-13. No copper halfpennies were struck during Anne's reign and farthings are famously rare, being featured in murder mysteries. The silver tuppence are still struck for the Maundy sets.
