Sincona sale 47, lot 2703
This specimen was lot 2703 in Sincona sale 47 (Zurich, May 2018), where it sold for 275 CHF (about US$330 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWITZERLAND, Freiburg/Fribourg, Stadt und Kanton, Halbbatzen 1774. Gutes vorzüglich. (city and canton of Fribourg, half batzen of 1774. Good extremely fine.)"
This type was issued 1741, 1746, 1751-54, 1767-74, 1787-89, 1793, 1797-98 with variation in shields. Whereas in most of the Swiss cantons 160 kreuzer made a thaler, in Fribourg 56 kreuzer made a gulden.
