This type was struck by the free city of Frankfurt am Main 1862-65. Its face value of one thaler was equal to 1-3/4 gulden. A similar two thaler was also minted 1860-66 and is actually more common. Frankfurt was annexed by Prussia in 1866 and its coinage ceased.

Recorded mintage: 207,000.

Specification: 18.52 g, .900 fine silver, .536 troy oz ASW.
