This specimen was lot 22315 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $152.75. The catalog description[2] noted, "FRANCE. 20 Centimes, 1850-A. NGC MS-66. From the short lived Second Republic. Beautifully toned with iridescent blue and rose dominating the color scheme and (much as the grade suggests) a superb gem." This tiny coin was issued for France 1849-51 only but must have been extensively saved as high grade specimens of the 1850-A and 1851-A are common. This date comprises 63% of the entire production. The privy mark comes with the dog's ear raised or lowered.

Specification: 1 g, .900 fine silver, 15 mm diameter, reeded edge.
