France 1821-W 5 francs
This type was struck during the second restoration of Louis XVIII of France (1814-24) from numerous mints. The specimen shown is from the Lille mint. Many of the 96 dates of this type are known from a handful (<10) of examples. The type is not difficult to find but is expensive in high grade.
Specification: 37 mm diameter, 25 grams, .900 fine silver, edge lettered DOMINE SALVUM FAC REGEM. Designed by Auguste François Michaut, 1786-1879.
Recorded mintage: 3,672,826 (slightly better date).
