France 1792BB 3 deniers rev DSLR.jpg

This type was struck 1792 only at Strasbourg for the French revolutionary regime and is quite a bit scarcer than the contemporary six deniers, 12 deniers and 2 sols. It receives a different catalog number from the three deniers struck at Lyon and Limoges by the spelling of the obverse legend, "FRANÇAIS" instead of "FRANÇOIS". It was equal to the liard of the ancien régime.

Recorded mintage: 80,150.

Specification: 3.05 g, bronze, designed by Augustin Dupré.

Catalog reference: Gadoury 4, KM 609.
