This specimen was struck at the Marseilles mint for France in 1788. It was lot 23269 in Heritage Auctions sale 3005 (Long Beach, May 2009), where it sold for $126.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Louis XVI 1/10 Ecu 1788MA, XF-AU, a tough coin to find in higher grades." Droulers[2] lists this date as common. Marseilles struck this denomination in 1788 and 1789 only.

Recorded mintage: 91,838[2], 92,000[3].

Specification: 2.95 g, .917 fine silver, .087 troy oz ASW, reeded edge, 21-22 mm diameter.
