This specimen was lot 1280 in Jean Elsen sale 108 (Brussels, March 2011) where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"FRANCE ROYALE, Louis XV (1715-1774), AV double louis d'or au bandeau, 1769 A, Paris. 2e semestre. Droit: Tête à gauche, ceinte d'un bandeau. Revers: Ecus ovales de France et de Navarre sous une couronne. Ref.: 16,29g. Petits coups. Très Beau à Superbe" (France, Louis XV, 1715-74, gold double louis d'or au bandeau of 1769, Paris mint, second semester. Obverse: head to left, hair tied in a ribbon; reverse: shields of France and Navarre below a crown. Tiny nicks, Very Fine to Extremely Fine.)

Recorded mintage: 49,137 (priced[2] about 20% more than the common date such as 1760-BB).

Specification: 16.31 g, .917 fine gold, reeded edge, 28-29 mm diameter, designed by J.-C. Roéttiers, this specimen 16.29 g.
