This diminuitive coin, called a 1/10 écu au bandeau, was the French equivalent of a dime. In the coinage system of the ancien régime, the 1/10 écu = 12 sols. The type was struck 1740-70 and is recorded for the Metz mint ("AA") for 1740-41, 1743-50 and 1769.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: 2.95 g, .917 fine silver, 22 mm diameter.
