This specimen was lot 3532 in Goldberg sale 67 (Los Angeles, January 2012), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "France. 1 Louis d' or au bandeau, 1764-L (Bayonne). Issued for Province of Bearn. Louis XV, 1715-1774. Large head with hair ribbon left. Reverse: Crown over two oval shields. Lovely original mint fresh luster. NGC graded MS-64." This specimen is not from Bayonne but from the Pau mint as evidenced by the cow mintmark on the reverse. This date is slightly scarce. The Bayonne mint, a major producer of silver coin, minted little gold.

Specification: 8.158 g, .917 fine gold, 24 mm diameter, reeded edge.
