Sincona sale 6, lot 1140
This specimen was lot 1140 in Sincona sale 6 (Zurich, May 2012), where it sold for 1,200 CHF (about US$1,661 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"FRANKREICH Louis XV. 1715-1774. Louis d’or au bandeau 1745, Aix. Kopf nach links. Rv. Krone über zwei Wappen und Mzz. Aussergewöhnliche Qualität. Vorzüglich-fast FDC. Ex Lager Schweizerische Kreditanstalt (Monetarium) Zürich 1983. (France, Louis XV, 1715-74, louis d'or au bandeau of 1745, Aix mint. Obverse: head to left; reverse: crowned arms of France and Navarre and mintmark. Rare in this condition, about uncirculated. From Lager Schweizerische Kreditanstalt (Monetarium) Zürich 1983.)"
This type was struck 1740-70 and is common as French gold coins go and this is a slightly scarce date.
