This specimen was lot 24654 in Heritage sale 3032 (Chicago, April 2014), where it sold for $2,056.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Louis XV gold Louis d'or 1740-G, Poitiers mint, MS63 NGC. Choice Uncirculated, well struck and with much mint bloom, the reverse being particularly attractive. A rare date for this type, and more so in this choice grade."

Recorded mintage: 3,650 plus 2,138 louis d'or au bandeau.

Specification: 8.15 g, .917 fine gold, 24 mm diameter, designed by J. C. Roéttiers.
