Sincona sale 54, lot 357
This specimen was lot 357 in Sincona sale 54 (Zurich, May 2019), where it sold for 500 CHF (about US$595 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"Frankreich, konigreich, Louis XV. 1715-1774. Louis dor aux lunettes 1738 B, Rouen. Gutes sehr schön. (kingdom of France, Louis XV, 1715-74, gold louis of the spectacles of 1738, Rouen mint. Good very fine.)"
This type is recorded for 1726-40 and is among the more common gold coins of the ancien régime. This is a better date.

Recorded mintage: 20,285[1].

Specification: 8.16 g, .917 fine gold, 22-23 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by Norbert Roéttiers, this specimen 8.09 g.
