Sincona sale 38, lot 1299
This specimen was lot 1299 in Sincona sale 38 (Zurich, May 2017), where it sold for 3,400 CHF (about US$4,078 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"FRANCE, Königreich, Louis XV. 1715-1774 Louis dor à la croix de Malte 1718 S. Reims. Gutes vorzüglich. Leicht justiert. (kingdom of France, Louis XV, 1715-74, louis d'or à la croix de Malte, Reims mint, Good extremely fine, Minor adjustment marks.)"
Droulers[2] notes this French type, called a louis d'or à la croix du Saint Esprit, was struck 1718-19 and replaced the louis d'or de Noailles, which was 12.23 grams.

Recorded mintage: 143,000[2].
