This specimen was lot 20405 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $1,440. The catalog description[2] noted, "FRANCE. Louis d'Or, 1710-V. Troyes Mint. Louis XIV (1643-1715). NGC AU-53. A louis d'or au soleil of a type struck at the Troyes mint from 1709-15. Almost never seen as a date, this wholesome circulated example shows remnants of luster in the fields with excellent detail retention atop the obverse and reverse. Ideal for type representation or the collection of a specialist. RARE." This louis d'or au soleil was struck 1709-15 in some numbers. It was the last louis of Louis XIV.

Specification: 8.15 g, .917 fine gold, 24-26 mm diameter.
