This specimen was lot 13162 in Heritage sale 397 (January 2006) where it sold for $3,220. The catalog description[1] noted, "Louis XIV gold Louis d'Or 1668L Laureate Juvenile Bust, choice brilliant AU-UNC, fully lustrous and very rare in this quality." Droulers[2] calls this French type a "louis adolescent 1er type, a petite tête laurée et grosse mèche presque droite" (adolescent bust of the first type, laureate, with full hair combed to the right). This specimen is the plate coin in Droulers' 4th edition[2].

Recorded mintage: 18,631 (with Dr. 352a).

Specification: 6.75 g, .917 fine gold, plain edge, 24 mm diameter, designed by Jean Warin.
