This specimen was lot 20192 in Stack's Bowers 2018 NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $2,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Louis d'Or, 1664-D. Lyon Mint Louis XIV (1643-1715). PCGS MS-61. louis d'or au buste juvénile, tête laurée from a scarce type struck 1658-72. Single finest certified example at either PCGS or NGC. Although this type is not recorded as being restruck over older coins, there is a trace of an undertype on the reverse. Decent strike from heavily polished dies with somewhat dull luster accounting for the grade." All louis d'or juvénile of this period are rare.

Reported Mintage: unknown but a scarce date.

Specification: 6.75 g, .917 fine gold, plain edge, designed by Jean Warin.
