This specimen was lot 8427 in Ponterio sale 151 (Baltimore, November 2009), where it sold for $1,897.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Louis d'or, 1652-A. Louis XIV (1643-1715). NGC MS-61." This louis d'or à la mèche longue is among the more available louis of Louis XIV.

Recorded mintage: 770,931 (second commonest date).

Specification: 6.75 g, .917 fine gold, plain edge, designed by Jean Warin.
