This specimen was lot 34305 in Heritage sale 3038 (Dallas, January 2015), where it sold for $1,116.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "George VI Proof 3 Pence 1950 PR65 NGC. A seldom offered Proof type with spectacular reflectivity." This type was struck 1950 and 1952 and is common, tho the proofs are scarce. Coinage was initiated for the Fiji Islands in 1934, the year after New Zealand and the year before New Guinea. The sterling coinage ceased in 1968.

Recorded mintage: 450,000 plus a few proofs.
