This specimen was lot 24684 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $2,115. The catalog description[1] noted, "Eichstatt. Sede Vacante Taler 1781-KR, AU55 NGC. One-year type. A pleasing example of this intricately designed taler with light golden coloration atop lustrous surfaces. Scarce this fine." The bishopric of Eichstatt, now in Bavaria, occasionally issued coins. "Sede vacante" (vacant seat) thalers were issued on the occasion of the death of the incumbent bishop (or pope) and prior to the elevation of his successor.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.
