The coin shown is a billon ten para from the reign of Sultan Mahmud II. It was struck at the Cairo Mint. The obverse bears the toughra, or signature, of the sultan enclosed by an ornate border. The date is written on the reverse as AH 1223 year 22, which translates to about 1828 AD.

The specimen shown was sold as part of lot 13205 on Sept 9, 2004 at the 2004 September (HWCA) Signature Sale #357, for $103.50. The catalog description reads "Mahmud II Billon 10 Para 1223AH, KM170.2, ornate borders, regnal years 18, Fine, 19, cleaned Fine and 20, VG holed, plus KM171, regnal years 22 Fine, 24, VG and Fine, holed, 25, VG and Fine holed, and 26, Fine. From the Lake Pearl Middle Eastern Collection."
