Poland SB816-22884r.jpg

This specimen was lot 22884 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $152.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "POLAND. Danzig. 6 Groszy, 1760-REOE. NGC EF-40. A high quality piece when made and still retaining those same traits. Even wear with an expressive portrait and light tone." Elector Frederick August of Saxony was also king of Poland and issues for the two regions bear a strong resemblance. This six groszy was issued in various forms 1760-63 (KM 112, 113, 117) and the reported mintage is likely for all the issues combined.

Recorded mintage: 8,000,000.

Specification: billon.

Catalog reference: KM-112; Parchimowicz-1334a.
