This note was lot 8249 in Ponterio sale 150 (Los Angeles, August 2009), where it sold for $4,140. The catalog description noted, "RUSSIA--IMPERIAL. 100 Rubles, 1884. P-A53. Showing deep color and great appeal for the technical grade, this note will offer the budget-minded collector an opportunity to acquire a rare note which often highlights any collection it enters. A bright, clear and intricate watermark is noted which is one of the most pleasing seen on all Russian Currency. The note has several splits and internal tears mostly which hide nicely in the elaborate design. We just sold a Very Fine example bearing the previous issue date of this note, 1882, for $21,850. We expect the same spirited bidding for this 1884 issue as the previous example we offered received. GOOD/VERY GOOD."
