The first specimen was lot 50845 in Heritage sale 425 (New York, January 2007), where it sold for $2,760. The catalog description[1] noted,
"Cundinamarca - Republic 8 Reales 1820JF, AU58 PCGS, a superb example of this popular type with strong design details, light original gray toning and considerable underlying mint luster. This coin is very close to mint state and compares favorably with the MS61 NGC in our Whittier Sale which brought $5175. Although the Whittier coin was certified higher, this coin does not have the small planchet flaws evident on the Whittier specimen. Very rare and desirable in this quality!"
This type was struck 1820-21 and was preceded by the similar "LIBERTAD AMERICANA" struck 1819-20 (see KM 78). There is a scarce variety which adds the "Ba" mintmark. The third specimen was part of lot 44069 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), which sold for $660. The catalog description[2] noted, "COLOMBIA. A pair of Nueva Granada 8 Reales marked with oval countermarks for Cundinamarca, both graded by PCGS. Included are 1820-JF. VG-10, C/M VF Detail; 1821-Ba-JF. F-12, C/M VF Detail. (Total: 2 pieces). From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins."

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 23 g, .666 fine silver, .492 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM C6; the third specimen is KM 73.
