This specimen was lot 660 in Aureo sale 269 (Barcelona, July 2015), where it sold for €9,500 (about US$12,273 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"* 1990. Cuba. 500 pesos. AU. V Centenario - Cristóbal Colón. Acuñación de 15 ejemplares. Rarísima. Proof. (Cuba, gold five hundred pesos of 1990, for the fifth centennial of Christopher Columbus, with certificate, mintage of 15 pieces, very rare, proof.)"

Recorded mintage: 15, all proof.

Specification: 155.52 g, .999 fine gold, this specimen 155,34 g.
