This specimen was part of lot 27084 in Heritage sale 3022 (New York, January 2013), which sold for $1,410. The catalog description noted, "Republic Mixed Lot of Seventeen 20th Century Coins, Denominations range from 25 Centimos to 2 Colones. Many are UNC, a few are quite scarce. Sold as is, no return lot. The Cecil Webster Collection of Costa Rica." This copper-nickel type from the Philadelphia mint was accompanied by a similar one colon (KM 186.1). It is common in all grades. The colon was introduced in 1897 and reformed (devalued) in 1917 and 1920.
