The specimen shown was lot 1159 in Sedwick sale 11 (Winter Park, FL, April 2011), where it sold for $488.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Costa Rica, 1/16 peso, 1855/0. 1.5 grams. Bold and highly lustrous Mint State (choice grade for this type), deep-relief tree (the leaves at the highest point not fully struck), clear overdate, with touches of toning at rims only." This type was struck 1850, 1855 and 1862 and, tho priced cheaply in the SCWC, is rather scarce. The overdate is awarded a premium of about 50% over the regular date.

Specification: 1.46 g, .903 fine silver, .042 troy oz ASW, this specimen 1.5 grams.
