This specimen was lot 30658 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $3,525. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic silver 1/8 Peso 1850-JB MS64 NGC, San Jose mint. A meritorious example of this scarce, one-year issue that is seldom available at any level. The emblematic tree design experiences the usual strike-flatness while the planchet shows obvious die-clash marks on both sides. At present time, this lustrous and handsomely-toned offering is the finest and only certified specimen of the type at NGC. Rare as such. Ex. Lissner Collection." This type was struck 1850, 1853 and 1855 and is rather scarce.
