This five pesos was struck in Bogotá, Colombia, of a type issued 1971. It is common in all grades. The reverse features the logo of the sixth Panamerican Games. As recently as 1930, the five pesos was a gold coin the size of a British sovereign. Gold 100 pesos (KM 248), 200 pesos (KM 249), 300 pesos (KM 250), 500 pesos (KM 251) and 1500 pesos (KM 252) were also issued for this occasion.

Recorded mintage: 2,000,000.

Specification: nickel plated steel, 30 mm diameter.
