CNG Lissner sale, lot 1486

This specimen was lot 1486 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $229.90. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA, Estados Unidos de Colombia. 1863-1886. AR 2 Decimos. Medellín mint. Dated 1872. In NGC encapsulation graded AU 58. Wonderful strike with moderate toning over silver surfaces. Only coin of this type and date ever graded. Very rare, especially this nice. Purchased from M. Louis Teller, March 1976." This type is listed for 1870-72. This specimen seems underweight for a coin that should weigh 5 g.

Recorded mintage: 45,000 plus 24,000 of KM 155.1.

Specifications: 5 g, .835 fine silver, .134 troy oz ASW, this specimen Ø22 mm, 3.10 g, 12h axis.
