This specimen was minted in Bogotá, Colombia, in 1871. This type was minted at Bogotá and Medellin 1868-71 and is the last silver peso minted in Colombia in the nineteenth century. After this issue, the mints concentrated on half dollars. This issue is scarce but not too expensive in the middle grade shown here.

Recorded mintage: 40,000.

Specification: 25 g, .900 fine silver, .723 troy oz ASW, reeded edge, 37 mm diameter.
