Colombia 1868-B peso
This specimen was lot 42461 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $2,040. The catalog description noted, "COLOMBIA. 1868 Peso. Bogotá mint. AU-53 (PCGS). An unusually nice example of this scarce emission, the first year of this design type. Good cartwheel luster remains on attractive light silver gray surfaces, lightly toned and pleasantly natural in appearance. Some hairlines are present, more on reverse than obverse, and a short old scratch crosses the hair ribbons. An important type coin in this grade. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." This type was minted at Bogotá and Popayán 1868-71 and is fairly available in circulated condition tho choice specimens are scarce.
