Colombia H3042-29565r.jpg

This specimen was lot 29565 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $1,887.05. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 20 Pesos 1862-B XF45 PCGS, Bogotá mint. Well detailed with attractive old toning, scattered surface contact marks and a few mild rim nicks, all commensurate with the designation. The initial date of this very scarce type, seldom found in presentable condition. Only three specimens of this date have been certified by either major third party grading service, none of which are Mint State. Rare and quite desirable in this engaging and unflawed preservation. Ex. Frank Sedwick Collection." This type was struck at Bogotá 1862-77, Medellin 1867-72 and Popayán 1863-78. Despite the steady issue, the type is rare and expensive.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 32.26 g, .900 fine gold, .933 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: KM 142.1.
