Sedwick sale 10, lot 1078

This specimen was lot 1078 in Sedwick sale 10 (Winter Park, FL, October 2011), where it sold for $523.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Popayán, Colombia, 1/4 decimo, 1861, three stars. Lightly toned XF, no problems. The three stars below the denomination make this an issue of the Granadine Confederation, as opposed to the United States of New Granada or the United States of Colombia." The auction catalog notes this as KM 132.1 but that issue of Bogotá has nine stars; we have placed it as an unlisted date of KM 108.2 (listed for 1849-58).

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specifications: 0.90 g, .666 fine silver, .019 troy oz ASW, this specimen 0.7 gram.

Catalog reference: Restr-221.4; KM-108.2 (unlisted date).
