CNG Lissner sale, lot 1476

This specimen was lot 1476 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $1,694. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA, Confederación Granadina. 1858-1863. AR 1/4 Real. Bogotá mint. Dated 1860. Caducei flanking fraction. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 65. Lovely moderate toning. The only coin of this date graded. Extremely rare this choice. Purchased from M. Geiger, November 1980." This type is listed in the SCWC for 1860-62 and as fairly cheap tho it does not turn up often.
