This specimen was lot 44215 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $2,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1/4 Real, 1858. Popayan Mint. VF-30 (PCGS). Restrepo lists date as "very rare". Well struck and fully detailed with dark gray toning. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." This type was struck at Popayan 1849-58. The previous cornucopia obverse (KM 90.2) was superseded by this pomegranate obverse (KM 108.2).

Recorded mintage: unknown but the key date.

Specification: 0.90 g, .900 fine silver.
