This type was struck 1838-46 at Popayán only. The Bogotá mint restricted itself to gold pesos and sixteen pesos during this period. This specimen was lot 40352 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1845-UM 2 Pesos. Popayán mint. MS-61 (PCGS). Deep yellow gold with attractive toning and good luster, most prominent at the rims. A very nice piece for the grade. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." Assayer UE also exists for this date.
