Colombia 1843-P UM 2 pesos
This type was struck 1838-46 at Popayán only. The Bogotá mint restricted itself to gold pesos and sixteen pesos during this period. This specimen was lot 40350 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $432. The catalog description noted, "COLOMBIA. 1843-UM 2 Pesos. Popayán mint. AU-58 (PCGS). Lustrous light yellow gold with some scattered obverse hairlines. A nice high grade piece. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins. Ex. Stack's, December 1968." Assayer VU also exists for 1843.
