The first specimen was lot 1599 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $345. The catalog description[1] noted, "1842 RS 1 peso. Bogotá mint. MS-63 (NGC). Types as above. Deep orange highlights on lustrous medium gold surfaces. From the John H. Clapp Collection; Clapp estate to Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr., 1942." This type was minted at Bogotá 1837-46 and replaced the earlier KM 84.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: 1.69 g, .875 fine gold, .047 troy oz AGW; this specimen: 1.63 grams, 15.20 mm diameter.
