Colombia 1836P 8 escudos rev DSLR.jpg

This type was struck at Popayán 1822-36 and at Bogotá 1822-38. It was superseded by the quasi-decimal 16 pesos issued at both mints 1837-49. Both types are common enough that some attempt to collect complete date sets but nice specimens like the one shown here are, as always, seldom seen.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 27.07 g, .875 fine gold, .761 troy oz.

Catalog reference: KM 82.2, Fr-68.
