This type was struck 1823-36 at Popayán. It is somewhat common. Assayer UR is listed for 1829-36 and RU for 1827-41 (they may be the same assayer). This specimen was lot 40342 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $2,640. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1834-RU Escudo. Popayán mint. VF Detail — Cleaned (PCGS). A rare date, with just six examples known to Restrepo. Light yellow gold with some obverse strike doubling. A bit bright and showing some hairlines, but still reasonably attractive. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins. Ex. Alan Craig, April 1981."
