This type was struck 1823-36 at Popayán and 1823-25 at Bogotá. This type is fairly common. This specimen was lot 20296 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. Escudo, 1832-RU. Popayan Mint. NGC MS-63. Bold repunch on "8" of date. Possibly finest known quality for the date with largely undisturbed luster in the fields and complimentary apricot gold tone that adorns portions of the legends. Just short of fully struck."
