This specimen was lot 44076 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $930. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. Nueva Granada. 1/4 Real, 1821-BA. AU-53 (PCGS). Scarce grade for type. Well struck and centered, light toning. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." This scarce one year type marks the first appearance of the BA mintmark on this denomination.
