This specimen was lot 40247 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1803-JJ 2 Escudos. Santa Fe de Nuevo Reino (Bogotá) mint. Carlos IV (1788-1808). EF-40 (PCGS). Light yellow gold with traces of luster and a notable mark between the nose and SP of HISP. This is another date called rare by Restrepo. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins. Ex. Hans M.F. Schulman's sale of February 1973, lot 248." This type was struck 1791-1806 at Nuevo Reino (Bogotá) and Popayán and is common, tho priced slightly higher than the prior type of Charles III.
