This specimen was lot 40242 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1799-JF 2 Escudos. Popayán mint. Carlos IV (1788-1808). AU-55 (PCGS). Reflectivity and cartwheel luster mingle on the obverse, while the reverse is chiefly prooflike. Both sides are rich medium yellow gold and attractive for the grade. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins. Ex. Hans M.F. Schulman's sale of February 1973, lot 244." This type was struck 1791-1806 at Nuevo Reino (Bogotá) and Popayán and is common, tho priced slightly higher than the prior type of Charles III.
