This specimen was lot 40183 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1780-SF 2 Escudos. Popayán mint. Carlos III (1759-1788). EF Detail — Cleaned (PCGS). Light yellow with orange highlights and blushes of rose, but a bit too bright from an old cleaning. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." This type was struck at Nuevo Reino (Bogotá) and Popayán 1772-84 and is probably the most common two escudos of colonial Latin America.
