This specimen was lot 40167 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1775-JJ 2 Escudos. Santa Fe de Nuevo Reino (Bogotá) mint. Carlos III (1759-1788). AU-50 (PCGS). Light yellow gold with some peripheral luster. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins. Ex. Glendining's sale of November 1971, lot 363." This type was struck at Nuevo Reino (Bogotá) and Popayán 1772-84 and is probably the most common two escudos of colonial Latin America.
